Sustainability has become a critical priority for organizations worldwide. Customers, stakeholders, and governments are increasingly demanding environmentally responsible practices, and businesses must adapt to this new reality. However, many organizations face challenges in aligning their innovation efforts with sustainability goals. That’s where the Sustainability-Oriented Innovation (SOI) Analyzer in My360 comes in.

Designed exclusively for Gold Partners—with occasional access granted to invited Black Belts—the SOI Analyzer evaluates an organization’s ability to innovate for sustainability. It helps identify gaps, measure performance, and create actionable strategies to drive meaningful environmental impact.

What Is the SOI Analyzer?

The SOI Analyzer is a comprehensive tool for assessing an organization’s sustainability-oriented innovation capabilities. Unlike tools that focus on overall environmental performance, the SOI Analyzer zeroes in on the systems, processes, and leadership alignment that enable sustainability-focused innovation.

By measuring performance across four key areas—Enterprise-Wide Commitment, Operational Enablement, Inclusive Innovation, and System & Cycle Orientation—the SOI Analyzer delivers actionable insights into how organizations can improve their ability to innovate while reducing environmental impact.

Why Sustainability-Oriented Innovation Matters

Innovation is the driving force behind sustainable practices. Businesses must innovate to:

  • Transition to circular business models that minimize waste and maximize resource efficiency.

  • Develop low-carbon technologies that meet emissions reduction targets.

  • Align with regulatory mandates and consumer demands for sustainable products and services.

The SOI Analyzer provides a roadmap for achieving these objectives, ensuring that sustainability is embedded in innovation strategies across the organization.

How the SOI Analyzer Works

Step 1: Setting Up the SOI Assessment

The SOI assessment is integrated into the MyClients app of My360. To create an assessment:

  • Navigate to MyClients:

    • Go to the MyClients section in My360.

    • Select an existing client or add a new client.

  • Create an SOI Assessment:

    • Go to the Client Polls section and use one poll credit to create the SOI Analyzer assessment by clicking on the Add new poll button and select Sustainnovation360.

    • Give the poll a Title, First name, Last name and Email. The information will be used in the report.

    • Click the Add button to create the survey.

  • Invite Participants:

    • When the poll is created you will find it in Client polls.

    • You can add participants in three ways:

      • Consultant-Filled: As the consultant, you manually input the participants.

      • Link to Client: Send a link to the client, allowing them to input participant information.

      • Collaborative Entry: Work together with the client to fill in the participant list.

    • Each poll supports up to 100 participants unless specified otherwise.

Step 2: Conducting the Assessment

The assessment gathers data on sustainability-oriented innovation performance across four key areas:

1. Enterprise-Wide Commitment

  • Does the organization have a clear sustainability strategy?

  • Are leaders aligned on sustainability priorities?

  • Is sustainability integrated into organizational culture?

2. Operational Enablement

  • Are innovation systems optimized for sustainability goals?

  • How well do processes and supply chains support sustainable outcomes?

3. Inclusive Innovation

  • Are external stakeholders, partners, and affected communities engaged?

  • How effectively are creativity and design capabilities applied to sustainability challenges?

4. System & Cycle Orientation

  • Is the organization embracing circular business models?

  • Are products designed for extended use and recyclability?

Participants answer targeted questions to rate the organization’s performance, with responses visualized as diagrams and graphs.

Step 3: Analyzing Results

Once the assessment is complete, the SOI Analyzer generates comprehensive reports that include:

  • Visual Data: Spider diagrams and bar charts highlight performance across the four areas.

  • Key Insights: Barriers to sustainability-oriented innovation are identified, along with opportunities for improvement.

  • Actionable Recommendations: Detailed strategies to overcome barriers and enhance innovation capabilities.

Reports can be downloaded in PDF or Word formats, making it easy to share findings with stakeholders.

  • Navigate to SOI Analyzer in My360:

    - Select Company and Poll.

    - Click Update.

Real-World Applications of the SOI Analyzer

1. Building Leadership Alignment

Many organizations struggle with fragmented sustainability efforts due to misaligned leadership. The SOI Analyzer pinpoints areas where alignment is lacking and provides recommendations to unify leadership priorities around sustainability goals.

Example: A manufacturing company discovered that while leadership supported sustainability, there was no unified strategy. By using the SOI Analyzer, they aligned their goals and created a roadmap for reducing waste in supply chains.

2. Optimizing Processes and Supply Chains

The SOI Analyzer highlights inefficiencies in processes and supply chains that hinder sustainability efforts. Organizations can use these insights to implement changes that reduce resource use and waste.

Example: A logistics firm identified bottlenecks in their supply chain that increased carbon emissions. With recommendations from the SOI Analyzer, they adopted digital tools to streamline operations, cutting emissions by 15%.

3. Transitioning to Circular Business Models

Moving away from traditional linear models requires innovation in product design, lifecycle management, and systems thinking. The SOI Analyzer helps organizations identify the steps needed to make this transition.

Example: A consumer goods company used the SOI Analyzer to reimagine its product lifecycle, introducing modular designs that extended product use by 25%.

Exclusivity: Access for Gold Partners

The SOI Analyzer is a premium tool available exclusively to Gold Partners. These partners gain access to its powerful features and insights, helping them deliver superior value to their clients. Occasionally, invited Black Belts are granted access for specific projects, allowing them to leverage the tool’s capabilities for sustainability assessments.
